To hell with Irwin, says South Park

Submitted by: kirkland on Saturday October 28th, 2006 at 10:29 PM EST

Fury has erupted over a controversial episode of cartoon show South Park that makes fun of Steve Irwin's death.

The episode, to be shown in the US next week, shows Irwin walking around a fancy dress party in hell with a stingray barb sticking out of his chest.

A South Park spokesman defended the episode that shows callous disrespect for the grieving Irwin family.

"We have offended people in the past and probably will again," the spokesman said.

"We know that regular watchers will not be shocked."

In the episode, Satan hosts a fancy dress party attended by Irwin, Princess Diana, Adolf Hitler and other people among the famous dead.

South Park has absolutly taken this over the edge. How dare you make such a mockery over the death of a hero. You really need to think about how your lines will affect people. You have always stepped over the line, this time it's too far. I do not find this funny in any way and I will never watch again.

A DISGUSTED FORMER FAN

Gosh, ppl, chill out. Crikey, it is a stupid cartoon! Those who enjoyed, respected and are still grieving Steve (including myself) know better than to let a South Park episode change how we feel about his death. I do believe that the croc hunter would laugh it off as well. Steve is with us in what is good, not immature and rediculous.

I cannot beleive anyone could be so insensitive. Have South Park no respect for Steve's family, friends and fans around the world. Steve would not find it amusing that his two small children could be subjected to such insensitivity. Shame on you.

south park is an adult show, and for anyone who would think that their children would get upset by watching the show, shouldnt let them watch.simple as that.a true fan of this show, knows the kind of gross humor that is often portrayed, and should not be surprised by this.as for steve irwin,we were very saddened by his death, and feel for his children.but as a parent myself,i cant understand why terri irwin would let her children see south park in the first place.oh well whatever
